Friendly Arms Inn

I still can’t believe Gorion is gone. I was crying throughout my flight to the Friendly Arms Inn.

I finally met Khalid and Jaheira, but not before I got attacked by yet another assassin. This one was an experienced spellcaster and I would have died if not a Wand of Magic Missiles I had on hand.

Jaheira and Khalid wanted to travel with me for a while to guide me, to which I agreed. It is much safer to travel in a larger number and I think they can be trusted to have my back, being Gorion’s friends. They suggested that we head south towards Nashkel mines to investigate the source of the iron shortage. As I have not decided on the next course of action, I agreed. I can’t believe that I am now living my dreams as an adventurer, but I wished the price wasn’t the death of my father.

Anyway, before we left, we heard about the minor Hobglobin infestion near Friendly Arms Inn. Jaheira and Khalid proved to be decent fighters and we dispatched the lot with no injuries.

Imoen

Heya! It’s me, Imoen. – Imoen

Imoen is Xianer’s best friend in Candlekeep and they share a very close bond. They will love and support each other regardless of what happens.

Background

When asked about her past, IMOEN slaps your shoulder playfully. She says that you of all people should know, seeing as how you grew up together.

Indeed, some of your fondest memories are of meeting this sprightly young lass. She apparently came to Candlekeep much as you did, though ten years later in life, and she spent much more time with the gruff Winthrop than Gorion. “Puffguts,” she would call him, much to the old innkeep’s dismay.

She seems the eternal child, and is quite content to play the part of little sister, though you are both of comparable ages. You can tell by her hearty smile that she will always be willing to travel with you, no matter what path you take.

Disaster

Ah… my child, I am glad I have found you! – Gorion

Gorion is no longer with me. He was cruelly struck down by some armoured figure. My father. Dead. Protecting me. I will find out the reason and avenge Gorion. While we might have our disagreements, I loved Gorion dearly. He must be avenged.

Today, I learned a big secret of my life as well. I am the daughter of an evil god of murder, named Bhaal. Bhaal had forced himself on my mother and I am the result. My poor mother. I wish I knew her.

Gorion left a behind written by a person named ‘E’ that people will seek me out to make use of me as the blood of a god runs through my veins. Let them try! Gorion mentioned that a Saverok that had studied in Candlekeep. I don’t remember him – but I must be careful of him.

He also said that I should go to the Friendly Arms Inn to seek out Khalid and Jaheira. They are my father’s friends and will help me. Imoen managed to sneaked out to join me. Bless her soul!

Well, I can’t go back to Candlekeep as Gorion is no longer around. I guess Imoen and I will travel to the Friendly Arms Inn first before we make further plans.

Prologue: The Journey Begins

I was attacked and I killed my first person today! Actually two persons! They were looking for me specifically. But I don’t feel guilty at all. Luckily Jondalar had taught me to wield the quarterstaff well because I did not memorise any offensive spells.

These attacks seemed related to Gorion’s message that I needed to make an journey with him outside Candlekeep – the first time I am going to step out of this forsaken place! Imoen seemed to know the reason why I needed to leave but refused to say more.

Lotus’ Moral Compass

Lotus’ goal is to seek out the murderer of Gorion for vegenance so as to stop further attacks on herself.

As long as she moves a step further towards revenge, she will do whatever necessary. She has no qualms in killing and harming people who are obstructing her goals. At the same time, Lotus is willing to go out of her way to aid those who can help her avenge Gorion.

In general, Lotus tries to fit in with society in general, and follows the law when it is beneficial to do so. However, she’ll take risks if the benefits are great. She tends not to be bothered with politics, not interested to improve the community and is not interested to seek positions of authority over others.

Lotus generally values her family and friends, but may not heed their requests if personal discomfort is required. She expects favours to be returned. She will not betry her family members and close friends unless the circumstances are dire.

Gorion’s Ward

Name: Xianer

Age: 20
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 132lbs
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Dark Brown

Background

Inspired by your foster father’s countless tales of adventure, ancient treasures and endless knowledge, you yearn to travel the Realms to explore and seek your fortune. Gorion has been kind enough to instruct you in the basics of magic. Given your natural charm and beauty, you realise that enchantment spells come naturally to you. You have spoken to almost all the enchanters who visit Candlekeep and enamoured with your charm, many of them gave you valuable tips.

You know little about how you came to be a ward of Gorion’s, but over the year’s you have gleaned something of your mother’s tale from the vague allusions and from the words he sometimes uttered in tear-filled sleep. She was a human from far flung land of Shou Lung and a friend of his for many seasons. and a friend of his for many seasons. As you have no memory of her, nor any keepsakes to remind you of her existence, you have come to believe that she died while giving birth to you. Perhaps it was the pain of such a parting that led Gorion to cloister himself within the narrow halls of Candlekeep and raise you as his own. Of your father, you have learned nothing.
